Vasti

What is Vasti?

Vasti (also spelled Basti) is one of the most important and powerful therapies in Ayurveda, classified under Panchakarma, the five main detoxification treatments. It involves the therapeutic administration of medicated oils, decoctions, or herbal preparations into the rectum to cleanse the colon, balance the Vata dosha, and treat a wide range of chronic diseases.
Vasti is a medicated enema therapy used to detoxify the lower gastrointestinal tract. Ayurveda considers the colon (large intestine) as the main seat of Vata dosha, and Vasti is the best treatment for Vata-related disorders.
